Sometimes the universe says no and often it says maybe. However, when the universe says, yes there’s that moment of balance and serenity that lets us know the intonation of life is pitch perfect. The universe has been playing a melodious composition for us. Our sweet friend Teresa did a fabulous birthday dinner for Brandt. Then, Monday we received negative results from some medical testing and we are so thankful. We’ve discussed how interesting it is that the word negative can bring such a positive reaction; given the circumstance. And, currently I’m in Dayton, OH for the Winter Guard International World Championships. It’s been a great weekend watching the performances of some incredibly talented young people…especially five of the groups that allowed me to be a part of their journey .
Here are some shots from the gathering of chosen family that continued celebrating the birthday of the sweetest man in the world.
With Teresa there’s always a hat…
and delicious food!!!
Linda and Jim brought these Perfected Bite appetizers…Lobster Flatbreads
Teresa does the best Duck Confit in the world and if that’s not enough she does Yukon Golds also roasted in Duck Renderings.
I did a side dish…Torta of Avocado, Asparagus, Herbed Creme Fraiche, Egg and Three Caviars.
We were very French and had the salad after the entrée. Carrie did a masterful job…one of best dressings I’ve had in a long time.
Then Kirk hit a Grand Slam home run with this German Chocolate Tart!!!
The house is always lovely so I poked a few flowers to dress up the table a bit.
Here are some shots of the FABULOUS young people who complete my life. The world of pageantry will always be a part of me. These young people are some of the best of the best!!!
Choctaw Central Color Guard…Philadelphia, MS
Choctawhatchee Color Guard…Fort Walton Beach, FL
University of Memphis Color Guard…Memphis, TN
Cypress Independent Color Guard…Houston, TX
Mississippi Indoor Association Championship Retreat
I’ve been involved in MIA since it’s inception when we had seven color guards. This year forty-one units participated in championships. I’m thrilled to be associated with an organization that focuses on a high standard of excellence in design and achievement.
After three miserably wet and cold days here in Dayton the sun is shining and it’s quite mild. I trust that’s a good sign for the performances of Choctawhatchee and Cypress in their finals performances this evening.
I also hope that Spring will come and STAY.
Additionally, I hope you are thinking of how to make your house Spring Lovely and that you’ll find opportunities for a good time to be had by all.
