I know “they” say the rules no longer apply. However, white shoes, seersucker and linen were created to wear between Easter and Labor Day according to my mother’s fashion handbook…and it’s that book by which I will always abide. Whether it’s a celebration of death and resurrection or peeps and jelly beans Easter does allow Spring to officially begin with fashion, food and frivolity.
Easter lunch with vintage linens, heirloom china, collectible silver and all things Easter like…
Spring Onions
Purple Asparagus, Chocolate Bunnies
Carrots, Radishes
Tulips, Dutch Iris, Kermit Pom Poms and Rosemary…as Easter as Easter can be.
The meal seemed extra good…cooking with love always does!
We called it Green Salad…Lemon Lime Jello Salad…Mom always did it in a bunny mold for Easter.
Pea Salad like Brandt’s mom always made it.
Linda did traditional deviled eggs and smoked salmon deviled eggs…so good they’d make a preach swear.
Cat Cora’s Roasted Boston Butt with Lemon, Rosemary and Garlic
Teresa did Ina Garten’s Mushroom and Leek Bread Pudding…this was incredible with the pork.
Sharon did this rice bake…the poblanos took it over the top.
Green beans with new potatoes and spring onions…”cooked down”
Creamed Corn in Mom’s Black Skillet
And to finish the meal a Pineapple Cake with Seven Minute Icing and Fresh Coconut.
We toasted good friends and the memory of those who have crossed over…with lots of champagne!
The house was lovely and a good time was had by all.
UPDATE!!!
June 28 is coming soon. This was the reception venue…The Antler…when I visited the first week of November.
And here it is now…
Ready for a good time to be had by all.
Stay tuned…just 10 weeks ’til the big day.
