Ringing in the New…

I’m just about recovered.  No, we are not over-imbibers. Yet, we did see lots of lovely and had many good times during the holidays.  Our final soiree was a seven and a half hour open house…MERCY!!!  They said the house was lovely but after living in “overdone” for a month I have to admit I was a bit “over it”.  Nevertheless, a good time was reportedly had by all.  Have a look…

Of course libations played an important role.  Should you ever need people pleasing punch for a crowd…here you go…

Thames Gallery Punch

1/5 Light Rum

1/5 Dark Rum

1/5 Brandy

1 Bottle White Wine

1 Pint Peach Schnapps

1 Pint Apricot Brandy

Dissolve 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of fresh lemon juice and mix with all above ingredients.

That’s the basic recipe and it can be served as is.  However, it’s strong enough that you can add 3 litres of juice and it still makes your party pretty. I’ve used Cranberry, Apple or White Grape.  But, this time I found a blend of Peach and White Cranberry…

and a good time was had by all!!!

The Porter Cheddar with Quince Paste was a huge hit.

We love double creme brie with fig preserves and cambozola with crystalized orange peel.  This time I found a black label cambozola that was really amazing.

Those that had late evening plans came early for libation and fromage…hugs and love.

P1030658Those that came later enjoyed…

Prime Rib

Fingerling Potatoes Roasted in Duck Fat

Steamed Asparagus with Poached Eggs and Argan oil

Poached Pears with Gorgonzola and Walnuts

and

Lady Peas with Olive Oil and Fresh Thyme

Clearly, by the time this was presented I was very tired and presentation is lacking.  However, pardon my lack of humility…..it was really good!!!

So, the new year got rung in and off we go…

More loveliness and good times to come!!!
