Welcome to the Mississippi River bluff where we were a part of last weekend’s harvest dinner. A dear friend/client/chosen family does a dinner every fall where the guests are asked to go to The Memphis Farmers Market and purchase items for a dish. Then we all bring our dishes together at her home for a time of food, fun and fellowship…as the baptists say; although the gathering was far from baptist. The home sits on the Mississippi River Bluff with the best possible panoramic view of The Mighty Mississippi.
I was privileged to be the interior designer for the home and am always honored when they tell guests, “it’s Tim’s home, too.” Between architect Todd Walker, the homeowners and myself we did what we feel Frank Lloyd Wright would do if he were designing today. It’s a master study in wood, stone and metal.
The main floor offers a place of comfort that not only allows one to enjoy the view but to also relax to the sounds of a baby grand hovering over a glass floor accented with LED lighting. The “sprocket” light fixtures were designed to mimic the engineering brilliance of the “new” Hernando-Desoto Bridge.
The main floor also offers any culinary enthusiast a retreat to work their magic. The open floor plan includes a breakfast area at one end and a dining area at the other with a “chefs table” kitchen in between. In the photo above you can see the Missouri Limestone that is stacked the entire depth and height of the home.
The master suite includes a bedroom with the full length river view, a double vanity with hammered copper vessels, a walk-in shower, a Japanese soaking tub, a glass “catwalk” and a morning room.
The terraced deck is the perfect place for entertaining. I found these red acrylic chairs at Maison Objet in Paris. Everyday they circle the breakfast table but for the party they offered a lively cocktail area on the deck.
The tables were elegantly dressed in fall attire. The range of colors and textures were reflective of all the autumnal pleasures. The view from the deck off of the third floor master suite encompasses all the tables beckoning the guests…come and dine!!!
Okay, I’m sure you’re like…okay, what about the food. Yes, there was glorious food!!!
Candied Orange Peel wrapped with Goat Cheese, Thyme, Bacon, Pecans and Black Pepper
The Best Stuffed Grape Leaves this side of Lebanon…OMG!!!
Roasted Red Pepper Soup

Meatloaf Meatballs with Seven Day Gravy
There was a lovely Fresh Berry Trifle and a stunning Rolled Pumpkin Semifreddo but the guests got to them before my camera did.
