The Memphis Farmers Market opened today. So, let me go ahead and admit there’s a “pot of greens” on the stove right now.
Of course, it’s always great to see farmers like Keith and Jill Whitton that we enjoy shopping with every year. “How was your winter” re-sounds throughout the market.
CUCINA BREADS
We are lucky enough to live in a city with good bakeries and groceries that provide fresh bread and pastries. However, there’s just something about knowing the person that’s taking the money also baked the bread…and you’ll see her right back in the same spot next week…FABULOUS!!!
PARADISE SEAFOOD
And, I still have to pinch myself to know I can literally walk around the corner and get seafood that was in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday. We love the folks at Paradise Seafood. They don’t have a website but you can email them and ask them to put you on their mailing list so you know their schedule…ParadiseSeafood@bigriver.net …fresh Gulf Oysters for dinner tonight.
As good as it was to see “the regulars” today the market had some fresh faces and some really exciting new farmers. MFM has “come a long way baby”. The standards at MFM have always been high. The board has always sought out the best of the best but after eight years they’ve found some farmers that are really upping the game.
ROCKIN’ MICROS
I really can’t believe it. It was like I was at a market in California. Rockin’ Micros is two stalls away from Paradise Seafood. Paradise is an appropriate name for this corner of the market. The greens are the most delicate things you’ve ever seen. Patrick May promises to be around all summer and I promise my summer dishes are going to be ROCKIN’.
DICKEY FARMS MUSHROOMS
Giant Shitake
Lion’s Mane
Oyster
I know this sounds like bragging but I’m just in shock that I’ll be able to walk around the corner and have gourmet mushrooms all summer. And, from Potts Camp, MS…have you just ever!!! I had to wait in line just to take a picture…so excited!!!
FLORA and FAUNA
There’s an abundance of flowers, plants and planters today and as the season progresses the opportunities to enhance our homes and gardens will increase exponentially.
AND, THEN THERE’S BRUNCH!!!
Omelette with Sausage, Lion’s Mane Mushrooms, Red Peppers and Robusto Cheese…micro greens, cracked pepper, olive oil and Toasted Baguette.
The Memphis Farmers Market is certainly lovely and best I could tell a good time was had by all!!!
I hope that you stopped before the spin cycle if you chose to wash them in the washing machine!
You sir, remember waaayyyy to much!!!
