Memphis Farmers Market is not just about incredible farm fresh vegetables and locally prepared food items. While that’s what I usually focus on I thought I should introduce you to some wonderful artisans that get up before the crack of dawn each Saturday to share their talents with market patrons. I’ll admit I made my shopping trip and found new potatoes, easter egg radishes, fresh mustard greens and tender young lettuce…then I went back to focus on pictures for the blog. Given that the market is less than a block away from us I realized today that I really take it for granted. For new market goers or visitors to Memphis the range of vendors is certainly impressive. Of course, as the produce season progresses so does the selection. So, today I share some really “artsy art” with you.
R. P. FUNDERBURK
“Houses designed for specific Birds!”
R. P. Funderburk makes great pieces for lovers of organic art but the idea that birds actually love them too is just wonderful…and artsy!!!
STEPPING STONES
“Art Worth Stepping On”
Mike Harden’s work makes any garden or patio artsy…so much better than stone or brick pavers!!!
STEEL ART
Sue and Ron Willard bring whimsy to their work. While their work is artsy the use of natural materials and the idea that it’s all hand-crafted gives each piece a strong emotional connection.
GARDEN ART
Allison Pruette puts SONG “birds on a wire” with sheet MUSIC as the background…come on…can you say artsy. And, her colored glass pieces brings love and light to any dwelling.
BOO GARDO POTTERY
I know pottery is a challenging art. Yet, I love the simplicity of Boo Gardo’s work. The platter with the impression is created by pressing an antique placement into a slab of pottery…GENIUS!!! Imagine a floating candle and a gardenia floating in the Robin’s Egg Blue bowl…SPECTACULARLY artsy!!!
Re Hy
“the reuse bottle company”
I really want all of these. Guion Benkin not only makes functional art he makes downright beautiful art. AND!!! they are all recycled bottles…Love these!!! Green, beautiful and artsy!!!
MOON MAMA POTTERY
Moon MaMa Michele Price gives new meaning to texture and dimension with her graphic designs. Again, I love the idea that they can hang/sit as art, be the foundation for candles/flowers or serve up canapes/crudités at a really artsy party.
I have contact information on all the artists. Contact me for more information or visit The Memphis Farmers Market every Saturday until November. You’ll find plenty of things to make your house lovely and if you attend the market a good time will certainly be had by all!!!
BIRDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love ALL of it. Beautiful.
